This concept was one of the first ideas the Lord placed on the hearts of the site founders. One motto we often use is "Christians supporting Christians AND their local churches." Well, this garage sale feature easily allows this to happen.
So forget the "old" 20th century garage sales you may have participated in through your church! No more Saturday morning setup at the local gymnasium, dusty boxes, or questions of "what to do?" with the unsold items! Now you can simply start an online garage sale during the time period you choose. And people who support your garage sale can upload pictures and items from their own computers, so that there does not have to be a "drop-off" location for all these items to be stored.
And think about it. While people often do not have cash to donate to your budget, they DO have closets, garages, and attics full of items they just do not need, and would be willing to donate to help you raise money! For example:
If First Church needs money for a youth camp or mission trip, well, it is easy! Just sign up for an online garage sale.
So, if 50 members of a Church donate 5 items, well, that is 250 items you have on your sale! The items will still show up on our site under their chosen category, but will clearly show they are available for local pickup only. And, if you wish to start browsing garage sales ONLY in your local area, this is easy to do! Just click on the garage sales link at the top of our homepage (or CLICK HERE now) and see a list of active garage sales in your area!
We WANT to help you raise money! And, we do not collect ANY FEES (got it??!!) when you choose this fundraiser option!
All sales on bfac.com take place OUTSIDE of our site (we are a listing service). So if a user buys a garage sale item, our system contacts the seller and the two individuals set up payment and shipping (if applicable) arrangements. Then, people who donate items for sale in a garage sale can give 100% of the money they make selling items in this sale (again, as we are NOT involved in the sale of items between two individuals, we cannot guarantee a person will donate this money back to your organization. We provide you with a list of individuals who sold items in your sale, but the church or organization must be responsible for the collecting of money). We suggest people mailing in their money at the end of a sale to the garage sale sponsor/leader. And, we also recommend people donating all money for the sale of an item MINUS shipping and handling charges (again, if applicable).
